Striving to assist clients in meeting their funding goals...
MY FOCUS
I am a general purpose freelance grant writer specializing in postsecondary education, particularly the California Community Colleges. However, I’ve worked across the educational spectrum including universities and K-12 organizations. I have written funded grants for nearly all major federal agencies, the California Community Colleges, California Department of Education, as well as numerous corporate and private foundations.
Additional services in which I am experienced include:
- Formative and summative grant project evaluations;
- Editing accreditation self-studies;
- Drafting and/or editing strategic plans;
- Drafting and/or editing written reports; and
- Promotional and marketing materials.
How I work
I bid a job based on my estimate of how long it will take to complete, after reviewing the request for proposals. Upon agreement, that estimate becomes a firm-fixed price regardless of the time actually expended. Any out-of-pocket expenses are extra, however, in the age of electronic transmission, thankfully, we can complete nearly all jobs entirely via computer and telephone. I do not bill until the job is complete. Due to my heavy workload, my preference is to work entirely by email and telephone. This system has proven to be both time- and cost-effective.
A minimum two month lead time is required for most projects. This requirement can be flexible depending on when a funding agency releases the request for proposals.
My deliverables
I do all the original text sections of a grant. Typically, this includes the narrative, abstract, workplan, table of contents, and any other attachment requiring original writing. I revise and edit until the client is satisfied.
Client responsibilities
The client is responsible for any eligibility application or letter of intent, all the forms, budget, packaging, and submission. I am, however, available to consult on all aspects of the project and review documents, as needed. I will, of course, want to see a rough outline of the budget while completing the narrative to ensure they are complementary.
What I've Achieved
I hold a lifetime funding success rate of over 80 percent and have helped clients achieve their goals by securing nearly $114 million.
